Online Video Programs for Learning Middle School Math
Middle School is the optimal time to learn how to learn.
The Video Program contains the following 5 parts for each Concept Group
Video Teaching - Instruction is based on the premise that your child is in a new developmental stage and has the ability to learn the required math concepts if presented clearly. All the concepts and skills of your child's math course are organized and taught in an easy to understand format with lots of examples so that your child will know exactly every skill they have to learn.
PDF Worksheet - Printable PDFs that correlate with the video teaching. This is your new redesigned textbook - designed according to the principles of learning outlined by Brain Mind Learning scientists.
Video Test Prep - Assess Yourself - Strategies that teach your child how to assess themselves skill by skill, how to retain the information and be ready for a test so that they can go into a testing environment with confidence rather than anxiety. Your child will learn how to be in more control of their learning - definitely something they want.
PDF Test - A printable comprehensive test that covers the concepts taught in the Concept Group/Chapter.
Video Answer Key for the Test - a full explanation of how to do the test questions coaching them through it with brain mind learning principles so that they can transform themselves into competent, confident Math learners.

Unless you get a private tutor most tutoring agencies such as Kumon, Sylvan, Oxford Learning, and Mathnasium are done in a group setting in a classroom with tables and usually 4 chairs to each table. This may present an uncomfortable situation for your child. Your child can sit in the comfort of your home and obtain phenomenal instruction through this video program. Not only that but you, as a parent, can also watch the videos and be instrumental in helping your child if you so desire.
The basic premise of most tutoring agencies is that an assessment is required to determine what level your child is working at. This can be quite demoralizing to your child if your child does poorly in that assessment and is told that they are several grades behind. The school and tutoring agencies believe that the problem lies with your child and their skill level. Our basic premise is that your child is smart (and you know that because they can do so many things so well) and that the problem lies with the instruction given at the middle school level. Much of the content and skills at the grade 7 and 8 level are repeated so that you do not have to worry about what has happened in the previous grade. The video program covers these foundational skills so that your child is working with content that is at their grade level. This is a great benefit because your child's self-esteem is crucial in making progress and becoming a successful math learner.
The cost of getting tutoring support can easily turn into thousands of dollars. For $147 you can not get this kind of information that is presented in this video program. The video program is a culmination of years of research and practice with proven results.
Although there are many free videos with great content and teachings, the value in this program is that it is complete.
Completely correlates with the school curriculum - it can be difficult to find all the exact concepts that your child will be studying in their textbook.
Completely collected in one place - it takes considerably amount of time to search and find a video that explains the concept let alone presented in a suitable way.
Completely cohesive - all the concepts and skills are organized in a manner as though it was a "Math Story" - the program has a flow to it.
If you want to be the best learner possible, then you have to find a way to manifest your learning power. That is what school is supposed to do – help you find a way to do that. If you know how to manifest your learning power, then you will be able to successful in every academic thing you do. So, you may have realized your ability in various kinds of academic endeavours, but not mathematics, and the reason for that is because you can be strong in a particular intelligence – verbal reasoning for example, which means you are a natural learner in that field. When you are a natural learner in a particular area of intelligence, you will manifest your learner power unconsciously. It is when you have reached an area of intelligence that you do not like or that you do not have as much ability, that it becomes necessary to become more conscious of the three domains that enable you to access and maximize your learning abilities. This is the science of learning. The cognitive scientists have laid out principles of learning that lie in three domains.
The first domain is the emotional / social domain. The purpose of the learning principles in this domain is to prepare you for the learning that is going to take place. The idea is that no matter what it is that you are learning, you have to be ready to learn. Learning experts like to say it means, “Get a good night’s sleep.”, Eat a good breakfast.”, “Have your pens and pencils ready.”, and all of this matter, but the brain/mind scientists have taken preparation for learning a step further than this. There are ways to prepare yourself emotionally to feel confident entering a learning situation, even one you may have previously felt very uncomfortable in – like learning math.
The second one is the instructional domain. This is where you enter into the place where the learning happens - normally thought of as the classroom, and you become immersed in the process of learning. Again, not much thought is necessarily given to how you learn, if you like what you are learning. It is when you come to a situation, like learning math, which you don’t like, that knowing how to maximize the learning skills you use without too much thinking for success in other classes, to consciously tap into to create success for yourself in mathematics. One of the principles inside the instructional domain that the cognitive scientists have identified is that the brain/mind processes information by engaging and mastering patterns. For good readers, this is easy. It is what enables them to read fast and understand what they are reading. Reading a math textbook is a different story, however, until you find the hidden patterns.
The third one is the consolidation domain. While you are learning something, it is a good idea to figure out what you are going to do with it. What you are looking for is a specific result, that helps you reach a further goal. For example, an excellent math mark may be all you are looking for. It is enough on its own. On the other hand, a top grade in math opens the doors for future careers, that would otherwise be missed.
